DIY: Shrink Plastic Heart Earrings

Hello cyber space dwellers!

This post is all about showing you how to make your very own ever so scrumptious pair of tiny, shrink plastic, heart earrings!

Here is what they will look like when a real life poser (such as myself) wears the little beauties

They are so super duper easy to make. Here is what you will need:

  • Tiny sheet of shrink plastic
  • Scissors
  • Pink pencil crayon
  • Black fine marker pen
  • Stud earrings
  • A working Oven
  • E6000 Glue
  • Mod Podge Matte Sealant
  • An Old Paintbrush

Step One DRAW FROM THE HEART (get it?)

The first step is to draw your design on the rough side of the shrink plastic and then neatly cut out your design. I like to leave a white border just because I think it looks sweet!

Step 2 BAKE IT LIKE A POLAROID PICTURE (meaning don’t open the oven door until the shrinking is done naughty!)

I find it really helps if you line the tray with kitchen foil first!

Don’t be alarmed if the shrinking is uneven at first, eventually after a few minutes they will straighten and flatten out beautifully!

Step Three SEALED WITH A KISS

Give the little pretties a couple of coats of sealant allowing them to dry completely in between coats.

Step Four YOU CAN USE CLIP ON’S IF YOU DON’T HAVE PIERCED EARS!

Apply a small blob of E6000 industrial strength glue on the back of the studs, attach hearts and leave to dry for around three hours!

Then ta dah! Step Five- ENJOY LOOKING PRETTY you’ve earned it!!!

Sheffield Baby!!!

After having just recovered from a marvellous weekend in Sheffield (a tip top northern city!) I thought I would share some of the sights and experiences of the place!

Apart from getting way too drunk and eating mucho loads of food I also appreciated having my friend as a tour guide to show me some of what the city has to offer.

A fantastic place in Sheffield is the Winter Gardens. Not only do they have a huge indoor garden with lots of fancy plants, they also have a trendy art gallery and a large cuter than a button handmade foyer.

These were a couple of pieces that caught my eye in the gallery. Local art is really important and it’s nice to see that these local artists were given a bit of recognition in the gallery!

There was also a gallery dedicated to all sorts of curiosities, the main themes being rocks and minerals, birds and insects! Very interesting to any nature/animal enthusiast.

You’ll just have to believe me that the actual gardens are really pretty. My tour guide had a phobia of the pigeons that live there so I didn’t get the chance to take any pictures. Hahahahaha.

I hope I have convinced you that Sheffield is the place to be and if you don’t appreciate culture then you can just go shopping… I shall depart by showing you some sneaky shots I snapped of my beautiful tour guide playing dress up in one of said shops!
